Grrrl power is a video and film workshop aimed at high school girls and young women. Participants are  introduced to feminist film and video production and encouraged to develop critical skills and an understanding of contemporary media art through discussion of form process and context. The aim of the workshop is to introduce independent films and videos by women and to encourage the production of a short film/or video work through getting to know the medium itself and developing an understanding of working within film and video as young women, a form that is often represented as subservient to male film production. The group will discuss gender stereotypes, consider how ideas and critiques of gender are connected to particular contexts of time and place, or to the experience or lack of experience that greatly influences our perception of reality.
